Branden impressed with Ole Miss' coaches at Jr Day
Branden attended Ole Miss' Jr Day this past Saturday and plans to camp at Ole Miss, LSU, and hopefully a few more SEC schools this summer.
The following information was revealed during our interview with Branden Napier:
What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 6' 3", 275, and I run a 5.3 forty."
Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "Offensive center."
What are your strengths at center? "I just work hard and give it my all every play."
What are you working on for the next level? "My footwork and just getting stronger."
What do you max out at these days? "315/470."
Did you attend any camps last summer? "I went to the MSU football camp. That was the only one I had the time to attend."
Where do you plan to camp at this summer:? "I will go to Ole Miss' and LSU's for sure. I hope to camp at all of the SEC schools, just as many as I can."
How long have you been starting at center for South Jones? "Two games into my sophomore year, and I have been starting ever since then. They are thinking about moving me to left tackle this year though."
Did you coach keep up with your pancake blocks last year? "No sir, I tried to a little bit. I know I averaged 5 or 6 a game."
Did they grade you? "Yes sir, in the District games they did. I averaged out at 88%."
Did you garner any awards? "I made All-District honorable mention."
Which programs are writing you? "Mainly Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, and Auburn."
Who is recruiting you the hardest right now? "Ole Miss."
Any early offers? "No sir, not yet."
Which schools are you keeping a close eye on? "I am looking at Ole Miss, West Virginia, and Georgia Tech."
Why those three schools? "Ole Miss has a nice campus and great facilities. I just went to their Jr Day last weekend. I liked it. I really liked their new staff. They seem fun and energized."
Did anyone accompany you on your visit to Ole Miss? "My mom and dad went with me."
What did they think? "They liked it. They thought it was a beautiful campus. They liked their facilities, their coaching staff, and just the school as a whole. They also liked how their staff pulled them to the side to talk to them about the recruiting process."
What new did you learn about Ole Miss during your trip? "Just the area, it seems fun up there."
What most did you like about Ole Miss during your trip? "The coaching staff. I really like them. They made sure you knew exactly what you needed (grades) to get into their school and if you are meeting them."
What attracts you to West Virginia? "My brother, Zac Napier, plays football there. I have been to some of his games. I just like their campus and coaching staff. It is just nice up there."
What about Georgia Tech? "I have been interested in them. I have looked at their school through their website. They have a beautiful campus. I would like to meet their coaches so I can learn more about them and their academic programs."
What are your personal goals for your senior season? "I want to be selected to the MS/AL All-Star game and earn a D1 scholarship. I also want us to have a winning season."
What is your current academic status? "I have about a 2.9 Core GPA and I took the ACT test for the first time in February. I am still waiting on my score."
