The following information was revealed during our interview with Marquis Young:

What is your current height and weight? "I am 6' 9", 275."

How is Austin's season coming along? "We are in the State Regionals. We play in the Regional Championship game tomorrow against Fenwick."

What are you averaging for the season? "I am averaging 20 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 2 assists per game."

Shooting percentages? "I average 70% from the foul line, 28% from 3 point, and 64% overall from the field."

Have any awards been given out yet? "A few. I made All-Chicago and All-Conference. I set a couple of records in some tournaments this year in block shots too."

Which tournaments? "I had 8 block shots in a game at the King Classic, and I also had 8 block shots in a game at the Cakankee Classic. I broke both tournament records."

What most have you improved on this season? "I think my fatigue has improved and also my jump shot and scoring ability."

What do you max out at these days? "I have not been in the weight room in a while."

How is school going? "Great, I made my test score. I got my results in on Monday. I made a 17 on the ACT. I have a 3.8 overall GPA in advanced courses. School is going great."

When will you enroll at Ole Miss? "I am coming down there at the end of May. I might or might not take some classes in June, but I will be down there getting in condition."

Which position do you expect to start out? "Hopefully some 4 along with the 5. I want to play with my back against the basket, but I also like to face it too."

Are you better in the low post or moving around? "Probably with my back against the basket, but my jump shot has really improved too. I am pretty good at both."

What are your goals for your freshman season? "Hopefully, I want us to win the SEC championship, make the tourney, and make a statement. I think the fans at Ole Miss deserve it. They give their team a lot of support. I want us to give a little something back to them."

What can the Ole Miss fans expect from you as the person and the basketball player? "As a person, I am easy to get a long with. I hang out with all colors. I try to be helpful to others and respect them as I want them to respect me. As a basketball player, I am a quick learner. I give 110% every game. Hopefully, I will stay healthy, so I can help my team win some games."

Marquis carries a 3.8 GPA and a 17 on the ACT.
