The following information was revealed during our interview with Roshaad Byrd:

What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 6' 4", 220, and I run a 4.6 forty."

What is your current bench press, squat, and have you been measured in your vertical? "I had a shoulder injury last year, so I never maxed out. The last time I maxed out, it was in 9th grade. I was maxing out at 275 back then. I have never maxed out with my squat either. And as far as my vertical, I have never been measured."

Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "LB."

What are your strengths at linebacker? "I have a nose for the ball. I work hard to get there."

What are you working on for the next level? "Strength, speed, and all of the above. Everybody has room to learn."

How long have you been starting for Meridian? "Since 10th grade."

All at LB? "I played some DE too."

How did Meridian fare on field last season? "We made it to the State (Class 5A) Semifinals. We lost to Oak Grove. We finished 10-2."

What were your stats from this past season? "I had 80 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and 15 pass breakups."

What are your goals for next year? "I just want to go out there and be all I can be. I want our team to play as one. I want to help keep everyone on the same level."

What would be your dream matchup in the state finals for your senior campaign? "Us playing South Panola. It has to be South Panola."

Did your head coach, Ed Stanley, ever tell your team last year to please get to the finals so he could face his old team, South Panola? "Yea, he did a few times. We let him down."

Which colleges are currently recruiting you the hardest? "Auburn, Alabama, USM, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, MSU, and Tennessee."

Have you received any early scholarships? "Mississippi State."

Have you attended any Jr Days? "I have not, but I am on my way up to Ole Miss right now (1/10/05) to watch them practice and look at their school. Me, Cordera Eason and Derrick Davis are going up there for the weekend."

What is your interest in Ole Miss? "I like Ole Miss' educational programs. They have a good reputation. They are just a good school. I grew up going to their games."

Who are some other schools you are interested in? "Auburn, Alabama, USM, and Texas A&M."

What are Auburn's positives? "They are a winning program. I like really like their school."

And Alabama? "They are showing a lot of interest in me."

What do you like about USM? "Same as Alabama. They are showing me a lot of interest."

And Texas A&M? "They have been sending me a lot of stuff lately."

What are going to be the factors in your decision? "Someone who can help me get a good education and help me put a ring on my finger."

What is your academic status? "I have a 2.8 Core GPA and I have not taken the ACT yet, but I am taking it in April."
