The following information was revealed during our interview with Shomari Clemons:

Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "Strong safety, but I mostly played linebacker last year. We were thin, so they moved me to linebacker. If some of the younger players develop, I will move back to strong safety this year."

What are your strengths on the field? "I work harder than everybody else. I just get the job done through my hard work. I am a smart player who likes to put the big hit on you."

What are you working on to make yourself a more complete player? "My grades and body strength. I just need to get my grades up, work harder in the weight room, and work on my speed. Once I do that, I will be a dominate player."

How long have you been starting for West Monroe? "This will be my third year."

What was your school's record last year? "We lost to Evangel Christian by one point in the State Finals last year. It was tough on us, emotionally, but hopefully it will make us want it even more this year. We went 14 - 1 overall."

What were your stats for the season? "I missed the first six games with a high ankle sprain. In the games I played in, I had 60 tackles, 5 sacks, 4 pass breakups, 3 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries."

Any awards? "I got All-District but that was about it."

Which schools are recruiting you the hardest right now? "I think LSU is, then probably Arkansas and Auburn. They seem like they like me a lot. I am starting to get a lot of letters from Florida and Ole Miss too. Coach told me that Ole Miss was about to offer me."

Have you received any early offers? "LSU has, but that is it so far."

Which schools have caught your eye? "LSU, Auburn, Florida, and Tennessee."

What do you like about LSU? "The campus. They are building a lot of new stuff around there. They help you more in school than anything else. It is not all about football at LSU. They want you to get your degree too. I like that a lot."

What attracts you to Auburn? "I really have not looked into Auburn yet, so I am going to go down there and take an unofficial (visit) later on this month."

What are Florida's positives? "I just like their football team. I have been liking Florida for a long time, a long time."

And Tennessee? "I have been to Tennessee to see a friend of mine. I did not go on any sports related visit, just went and saw a friend. But, he took me around their campus . I liked their surroundings. I will probably go back there some time soon."

Where else have you visited? "LSU and Tennessee is it so far. I plan on going to where ever my coach takes me. He said he was going to take me to Auburn and Tennessee for sure. I will have to see after that."

Where will you camp at this summer? "LSU, Auburn, and probably Arkansas."

What will be the main factors when it comes decision time? "I am looking for some great coaches who have a track record. I am also looking for a school like LSU who is as concerned about my grades as they are about football. I want to get my degree. That is real important to me."

West Monroe opens their season against Longview at the Independence Bowl stadium. Evangel Christian will kick off the doubleheader.
