Comments from Brad Bradshaw
"They will love him on the practice field. As far as the fans outlook, his ability to make people miss will stand out to them," said Bastrop Coach Nick Bradshaw. "Marcus has great vision and quick feet and just has that knack at getting into the endzone. He is a highly competitive kid who is also bright. He has to be both to be competitive on the next level because of his size. But I look for him to make a big impact in the SEC very soon. The kid just knows how to play the game. I really believe he will be better in college than he was in high school. I envision him as a 185-pounder. With his toughness, he'll do very well."
Comments from Ed Orgeron
"He's a difference maker in terms of speed. He can score from anywhere and can make you miss. We have some big backs - we wanted a Reggie Bush kind of guy. Don't know if we got that, but that's what Marshay could be if he develops like we anticipate."
The following information was revealed during our interview with Marcus Green:
Have you seen any changes in your height or weight since you signed with Ole Miss? "No, I am basically just running. I am in track right now. I am still 5' 10", 175."
Have you been timed in the 40 recently? "No sir. I think the last time I was timed, I was a sophomore. I ran a 4.48 back then. That was at a camp."
What are you doing to keep yourself in football shape? "I say for the past month, me and (Rogers) Loche have been doing track and lifting weights. That is basically all I have been doing, track and weights."
What are you maxing out? "I maxed on the bench at 285 and 385 on the squat the other day."
What are your best recorded times in track this year? "My best in the 100 was a 10.68 and my best in the 200 was a a 22.10."
Did you place in State? "We have not finished our season yet. State starts in a couple of weeks."
Are you going to participate in any football all-star games this summer? "Me and (Rogers) Loche are scheduled to play in an all-star game on July 22nd."
Where? "They told me that it is going to be held at Southern University."
When are you scheduled to graduate? "On May 13th."
Where do you stand, academically? "I have a 2.7 core GPA, and I made an 18 on the ACT test. Me and (Rogers) Loche plan on going to summer school at Ole Miss together."
Which summer session? "I think we are going to the 2nd session of summer school."
When was the last time you spoke with someone from the Ole Miss staff? "I think I talked to them like two days ago. They had called and asked me about my clearinghouse stuff. Me and (Rogers) Loche have already taken care of that."
It sounds like you and Rogers Loche are very close? "Yea, we have been playing ball together ever since we were in the 6th grade. Me and (Rogers) Loche always wanted to go to college together. When they offered both of us at their camp last summer, we were like lets do it."
Which position do you expect to start out at this summer? "Hopefully, I can keep my same position (RB) and also return some kicks and punts."
What are your personal goals for your freshman year? "I just want to get faster and stronger. I also want to play as a freshman."
What are your team goals for next season? "Hopefully, we can win the SEC and the National Championship. But, I know in order for us to win the national championship, we have to work hard."
Are you more nervous or anxious about the transition you are about to make? "Well, I would say nervous and anxious. I am excited about it also."
Any rising seniors at Bastrop we need to keep an eye on? "I would have to say Tommy White. He is a WR for us. He is probably 6' 2" about 185. He was the only guy on the team that could hang with me."
Thinking back on it; what was the number one reason you choose Ole Miss? "I would have to say ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to play in the SEC. When I went down there with (Rogers) Loche on a visit last Spring, I felt like I fit in with their players and coaches. But most of all, I felt at home."
