HS Coach Comment: "Lamark is a great kid. He is one of those funny guys who are real intelligent and fun to be around. He has a great motor," said Hunters Lane Coach Richard Campbell. "He plays with effort and is very cacheable. His best asset is his speed. He is a 4.55 guy. He will need to work on his leverage and leg strength when he gets up to Ole Miss. His upper body is already developed, but once he gets in the weight room for a year, look out, he will be a monster."
"I watched film on him before he came in on a visit. When he got here, I
liked his size and his demeanor all weekend. Then I watched his film again - he
uses his hands well, he's a good athlete and he turns the corner well. And he
was raised right - I am impressed with him. With Lamark, Jada Brown, Jerrell Powe
and Peria Jerry, we feel we have filled some needs for the future, and maybe immediately,
on the defensive line."
The following information was revealed during our interview with Larmark Armour:
Have you seen any changes in your height or weight since signing day? "No sir, I am still about 6' 3", 233."
Been timed in the 40 recently? "No sir, I have just been in the weight room. That is it, and I am running track."
What did you participate in with track? "I do the decathlon, 100, 110's, hurdles, 400, 1 mile, just every event. I think I am not going to do that this year because I am trying to gain some weight, so I am probably just going to do the 100's in State."
What is your best 100? "11.3"
Did you participate in anymore Spring sports? "Just basketball."
Have you tested yourself in the weight room lately? "Powercleaning. I do more power cleaning than anything else. The last time I maxed was in February. I did not do much, like 295."
Are you still set to play in the TN/KY All-star game? "I do not know if I am going to play in it because Ole Miss' defensive coordinator called me yesterday wanting me to be there by May 31st. I will have to talk to Coach Orgeron and see what they are going to let me do."
When are you scheduled to graduate? "May 23rd."
Where do you stand, academically? "Right now, my GPA is a 2.68 and I have a 20 on the ACT."
Which position do you expect to start out? "It really. Well, I do not know. This summer, I will know for sure. They are looking at me as a rush end. I will just be rushing the QB the whole time, but hopefully he will want me to come in early, so they can get me to 245 before the season starts."
What are your personal goals for your freshman season? "My only goal is to pass all of my classes first. Then I want to continue to work hard on the field. Those are my only goals."
Have you set any team goals? "That is a hard question. If anything, if we do not do great things this year, I would like to at least go to a bowl game. I do not think I could live with anything less than that."
What can the Ole Miss fans expect from Lamark as the player and person? "I do not really know, probably as a person, they will see I have a good personality. And as a player, they will know that I work hard. I am just a good person. As an athlete, they will see that I never give up. I work hard every snap."
Are you more nervous or ready for the transition you are about to make? "I am a little of both. I am anxious to see how it is going to be in my first year. I am nervous to see how much playing time I get. But I am more ready than anything else."
Any rising seniors at Hunters Lane (5A) we need to keep an eye on? "The only person I can see on that level is Michael James (WR/S). He is about 6' 2", 170. All he needs to do is get his weight up."
Thinking back on it; what was the #1 reason you choose Ole Miss? "They stuck with me the whole time through my ups and downs with my ACT and GPA. That is why I choose them. They were loyal to me. Then when I went on my official visit, I just felt at home. That is what made me change my mind about Ole Miss."
