Football Recruiting Tidbits

Here are my thoughts on several of the key players that Ole Miss is recruiting.

Anthony Dixon

Anthony Dixon 's (RB) stock has skyrocketed after his performances at the Scout and Nike combines. He might end up being the best running back prospect in a deep pool of talent from the Magnolia state.

Tim Buckley (QB) separated himself from the pack from the other signal callers this Spring. He has a strong arm, but more importantly, an accurate arm. Tim could play several different positions, but QB is where Ole Miss likes him the most.

Markeith Summers might end up being the top prospect off of Olive Branch's talented foursome, which includes Anthony Summers (S), Markeith Summers (WR), Allen Walker (WR/S), and Victor Thomas (DE). All four prospects have been offered by Ole Miss.

Ricky Dixon (WR), who caught passes from one of the top QB's in the country last year (Ryan Perrilloux), ran a 4.91 forty at the combine. Although his 40 time was not impressive, he will continue to receive a lot of interest from Ole Miss.

Hendrick Leverette (LB/S) out of Oak Grove ran really well at the Tulane Combine. Hendrick ran a 4.62 and a 4.56 forty. He measured in at 5' 11", 198.

Josh Davis
(OT) and Jimmy Rogers (OG) have separated themselves from the pack in Mississippi, in terms of offensive linemen.

Justin Woodall
(S) is one of the better athletes in this year's class. After watching his performances at the scout combine, we can see why Ole Miss is so high on him.

LaDerrick Vaughn (Ath) was a steal for the Rebels. After watching extensive tape on LaDerrick, we will be surprised if he does not become a hot commodity before it is all said and done. Ole Miss played their cards right by getting an early commitment.

Derrick Odom
Derrick Odom is probably the best LB prospect in Mississippi this year, and that is saying a lot, as the Magnolia State is loaded at the linebacker position. Derrick, along with Martez Smith, Milton Talbert, and Corderick Govan will sign with high D1 programs in February. Each prospect has been offered by Ole Miss except for Martez, and an offer could be forthcoming in the near future.

Reggie Hicks
(Madison Central) is the best fullback prospect we have seen in Mississippi in years. Hicks is so versatile. Reggie has NFL written all over his forehead if he continues to work hard. The Rebels have offered.

Michael McCoy (WR) had a really good Spring for N' West Rankin. Do not be surprised to see the Rebels offering before it is all said and done.

Terry Levy

Terry Levy proved why he is Mississippi's top wide receiver prospect this Spring. Terry was one of the Top 3 WR's at both the Scout combine (MSU) and Nike combine (Ole Miss).

Gray and Williams

Aaron Williams (DT) had an impressive Spring, as he put up good numbers at both the Scout and Nike combines. Look for his recruitment to really pick up by the Rebels and many more schools in the near future.

Anthony Gray
(DT) continues to show why many consider him to be the top defensive tackle in Mississippi this year.
