The following information was revealed during our interview
with Nick Stephens on May 17th
What do you do best at QB?
"I think my biggest thing is seeing everything. I feel like I can see the
field pretty accurately. I think that is what I do best."
you working on the most to make yourself a more complete QB? "Lately, we
have been going in the shotgun about 85% of the time. Last year, we had a strong
running game, but this year with me in there and some returning WR's, we are going
to the shotgun. I am mainly working on my drop backs and making quick reads."
schools are currently recruiting you the hardest? "UTEP is right now. They
are number one because they offered me a couple of weeks ago. Coach Barnett (Colorado)
is coming by in a couple of days. Ole Miss' head coach is coming by tomorrow for
our scrimmage. Tulane's head coach came by yesterday. I have been talking to Georgia
Tech's recruiter a lot. I went on an unofficial visit to Baylor and sat down in
their QB meeting. They are real interested in me. Colorado State has been sending
me a lot of hand written letters, so we will see."
Who do feel like
is closest to offering you next? "I think it will be Colorado. Their QB coach
said Coach Barnett wanted to watch me in person, so we will see."
colleges have caught your eye up to this point? "Well, when I went to Oklahoma
State's Jr Day. I really liked it. Coach Bradford came by a couple of days back
to watch a practice of mine. I went to Tulsa's Jr Day too. I really liked their
campus and their staff is great. I got to watch one of their practices. Their
staff came by the school also. They are definitely one of the top ones right now."
do you know about Ole Miss? "Ole Miss has always caught my eye because of
their past QB (Eli Manning). I do not know much about their academics, but I have
always liked their offense and style of play. I have been talking to Coach Mazzone
(qb coach at Ole Miss) a lot lately. He has coached a lot of great QB's."
about Colorado? "Their offensive coordinator called. We talked for a while.
They run a true West Coast offense. That is a big plus. They want me to play early,
and a chance to play early is a big factor. Plus, they are a big school and one
that I have always watched and liked a lot."
Which schools have given
you a call this month? "Texas was the first school to call. Coach Kennedy
came by the school the next day. Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Colorado, Oklahoma State,
UTEP, and there are some more, but I just can not think of them. I talk to UTEP
the most. Coach Price (UTEP head coach) came by the other day."
will be the main factors for you when it comes decision time? "The biggest
factor is definitely where I feel the most comfortable. Even if everything seems
right, if I am not comfortable with their campus environment, I will not go."
