The following information was revealed during our interview with Jamie Johnson:

Which position are you being recruited to play on the next level? "Ole Miss told me that I am going to mainly be a center fielder, but they might look at me as a closer too."

What do you consider to be your biggest strength on the field? "My hitting, definitely my hitting. My defense is pretty good too. I can go get most of the balls, and I have a strong arm too."

What are you trying to work on the most for the next level? "I am just trying to make sure my hitting stays alive, and that I do not get any flaws in my swing."

How long have you been starting for West Ouachita? "Since my freshman season."

Tell us about your stats as a freshman. "I batted .374 with 10 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 HR."

Any awards? "I was our Offensive Player of the Year, and I led our team in batting average. I was second in extra base hits and RBI's. I was also named 1st Team All-District and All-N' East LA."

Your sophomore year? "I batted .460 with 5 HR's, 1 triple, and 10 doubles. I was 10 - 3 on the mound. Me and another guy pitched all of our play-off games."

Your awards? "I was named our Defensive Player of the Year, and I made 1st Team All-District and All-N' East LA."

Finally, talk about this past season? "We won the State Championship. It was awesome. It was definitely my highlight of my career. Stat wise, I hit .544 and had a .688 on base percentage. I had 17 doubles, 4 triples, 5 HR's, and I think 37 RBI's."

Awards? "I was named Offensive Player of the Year (District), and I was named 1st Team All-State (4A), District, and All-N' East LA."

Your pitching stats? "I did not throw after our first game because my arm got real sore. I took the rest of the season off, so it would be ready for next year."

What do you max. out? "I hit 91 MPH in that game that I threw this year, but I normally throw it consistently in the 87-88 MPH range."

Which colleges have been showing you the most interest? "There are probably around 25 of them. I would say Ole Miss, Arizona, Baylor, Arkansas, LSU, Air Force, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, our local schools, and Duke would be the ones that have shown me the most interest. I committed to Ole Miss though."

Why did you decide on Ole Miss? "We met their coaches and fell in love with them. I have always wanted to play in the SEC, and this gives me a chance to do that and also play for the best program in the SEC in my opinion. I would say their coaches, playing in the SEC, and their facilities were the three main reasons I choose Ole Miss."

When did you get a chance to see Ole Miss? "I took an unofficial visit with my parents for the Ole Miss/Alabama series."

Will you tour some more schools or is this it? "Oh, no sir, I am firmly committed to Ole Miss and will sign with them in November. I can not wait."
