2005 Football Signees report to Ole Miss

The NCAA changed its ruling this year which stated that signees could not go on scholarship until the second summer session before the start of their freshman season. Now players can go on scholarship for the first summer session and the Rebels are taking advantage, as many of their 2005 signees reported today for the first summer session. To view which 2005 signees arrived on campus today, click here.

Grade Tidbits

Michael Oher (OL), Jerrell Powe (DL), Marcus Green (RB), Milton Collins (WR), and John Jerry (DL) are the only 2005 signees who still have some work left to complete this summer.

Marcus Green took the ACT test recently and it will be a couple of weeks before the test results are known.

John Jerry was accepted into Hargrave Military Academy last week. As you know, John's brother, Peria Jerry (DT), went the same route last year and will report to Ole Miss in July.

Milton Collins will have to take a few courses at Jones CC this summer in order to quaify.

Michael Oher has made his needed ACT test. Oher still has a couple of classes he has to complete this summer, but everyone around the camp feels confident that he will take care of business.

Jerrell Powe is also taking some classes this summer with hopes of making it in as a full qualifier.

Many have asked what will Jerrell do if he does not qualify? In order to be eligible for any prep school, you must have completed nine core courses to gain admittance.

If Jerrell finishes strong in the classroom this summer, he will most likely head to Hargrave Military Aca with John Jerry. If he does not finish strong in the classroom, then Jerrell will have to go the juco route.

But as of now, most feel that Jerrell has put himself in position to gain acceptance into Hargrave. And if he does attend Hargrave, Powe would have a legitimate chance to graduate in December and participate in Spring Practice.
