Vaughn Charlton will attend Ole Miss' Sr Camp

Vaughn Charlton (QB, Southern Chester, PA) - Ole Miss' search to fill the QB slots is in full swing.

One of the prospects that has intrigued Ole Miss is Vaughn Charlton. He is what you term as a true "sleeper" as he has been stuck in a Wing T offense during his stay at Aven Grove (PA). But, that is about to all change, as they have brought in a new coach and a "wide open" offense.

Vaughn has attended most of the elite combines this Spring with hopes of getting his name out. The list of combines that Charlton has attended are the Elite 11 (Atlanta), New Jersey Elite camp, Adidas (N.C. State), and the Elite combine that took place at Penn State.

Charlton will now take his game to the college camps. First up for Charlton will be the Ole Miss (Sr) camp that takes place on Saturday.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Vaughn Charlton:

What are your strengths at
QB? "My knowledge of the game. I am calm and cool in the pocket. I can take the hit, so I do not get rattled. I have good arm strength and pin point accuracy. I can put the ball where it needs to be."

What most are you working on to take your game to the next level? "I am lifting weights with the team. When school was still in session, I was lifting at 4:45 am on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I had Lacrosse after school was out, but now that is over. I gather my teammates and we practice on our own, then we go over to my house and break down the film. We are working hard to have a big year next season."

How long have you been starting for Aven Grove? "Since my sophomore year. My sophomore year I was honorable mention (All-League), and my junior year I made All-League."

What were your stats? "I was 58 - 78 for 972 yards, 9 TD's and 3 int's. We ran the Wing T offense, so I kind of got stuck in that situation."

What was your team's record during that span? "We were 5-5 both years. This is only the fifth year we have fielded a football program over here, so I guess that is OK. We are looking to a lot better this year though. We brought in a new coach from Villinova. We are going to open it up. We are looking to do wonders this year."

Which colleges are showing you the most interest? "I am being heavily recruited by North Carolina State, Virginia, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Louisville, Rutgers, Villinova, and Princeton."

Any offers yet? "No, nothing yet. I am kind of a sleeper. Nobody really knows about me yet. That is why I have gone to so many combines. I needed to get my name out."

Who do you feel like is closest to offering you? "That would probably be North Carolina State, but all of the coaches have not seen much film on me because we ran the Wing T. They all want me to come to their camps so they can see what I got."

Where do you plan to camp? "I am definitely going to Ole Miss on Saturday. I am going to try and get to Louisville for their camp. I had plans on going to NC State, Virginia, and possibly Michigan State."

Which schools are now at the top of your list? "NC State, North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan State, and Ole Miss."

What do you know about Ole Miss? "Not too much, to be honest. I know Eli came out of there. I know they are moving to a pro style offense. The NC State coach (Noel Mazzone) came to Ole Miss. The other coach (Ed Orgeron) came from USC. Other than that, that is about all I know."

Have any coaches come by your practices to evaluate you? "North Carolina, NC State, Virginia, Ole Miss, N' Western, and Villinova have been by."

Who is keeping in contact with you by way of phone? "The same schools communicate with me the most."
