Ole Miss commit starting to become a hot commodity

Kendrick Lewis (WR/S, New Orleans, LA) - Kendrick was Ole Miss' first commitment for the 2006 Class. In fact, Lewis committed the day after Signing Day, which took place on February 2nd. It marked the University of Mississippi's earliest public commitment since the NCAA did away with the early signing period.

But as a coach once told me, the "game" does not start until a kid commits to another school. With that in mind, the game has begun for LSU and Auburn, as both programs offered Lewis after his performances at their camps.

Is Kendrick still solid with his commitment to Ole Miss?

The following information was revealed during our interview with Kendrick Lewis:

Kendrick Lewis
What are you doing these days? "I have been playing in an AAU (basketball) league and going to football camps."

Which camps have you attended? "I went to Ole Miss' last month, and I went to Auburn last week. I am suppose to go back to LSU on Sunday for their 1 Day camp."

What have you taken away from these camps? "A lot of things. I have learned a little of something from everybody. You never know when you might need it."

Did you receive any scholarship offers during the camps? "Well, you know Ole Miss had already offered me a long time ago. LSU offered, and Auburn offered me after their camp was over. He said he was going to still keep in touch with me, and asked me if I was interested in them. I told him that I was always going to keep all of my options open, but I was still committed to Ole Miss. But I did tell him that it was cool if he wanted to keep calling."

Do you still feel solid with your commitment to Ole Miss? "Oh yea, there is a lot of love up there. It is nice up there, and I think I can play faster if I go there."

You went both ways (WR/S) at all of these camps, correct? "Yea."

Where did you feel more comfortable? "I felt comfortable playing receiver and safety. Most likely, I am going to wait until the season is over before I decide which position I am going to play on the college level."

You currently play QB for O.Perry Walker? "Yea, I played some receiver and defensive back too, but I mainly play quarterback."
