Michael Oher qualified

After months of speculation, prep All-American OL Michael Oher has been declared academically eligible to play football at Ole Miss this season.

Michael Oher was one of the most sought-after offensive linemen in the country last recruiting season, but at the time of his signing with Ole Miss it was clear he had academic work to do.

Every Rebel fan has been waiting anxiously to see if he would make it, including his guardian, Sean Tuohy.

Good news was received this morning, according to Sean.

"The Clearing House said Michael is good to go. He will report next week and prepare to attack his college football career and earn a degree," said Tuohy. "It's been a long, uphill battle, but Michael was determined to do it. He worked hard and made it happen, with the help of a lot of people who cared about his future. We are grateful to all of them."

Oher is a 6-4, 330-pounder who prepped at Briarcrest in Memphis, TN. He is considered one of the top OL prospects in the nation and is expected to make an immediate impact on the 2005 Rebel offensive line.

Whenever Coach Ed Orgeron meets with the media or alumni groups, he states the importance of Michael making his grades.

It's official now. Welcome to Ole Miss, Michael!
