Rebels in the mix for Texas lineman

Rajon Henley (DL, Galveston, TX) - Arguably one of Texas' top defensive prospects has seen his stock rise throughout the summer months. The 6' 3", 255 pound defensive lineman had 70 plus tackles, 6 sacks, 1 fumble recovered for a score, and 2 caused fumbles as a junior. He was named 1st Team All-District, County, and Greater Houston for his play on the field.

Henley has now been offered by Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, LSU, Texas, Utah, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Rajon Henley:

What are you mainly being recruited to play on the next level? "Defensive end."

What are your strengths at end? "Stopping the run, mostly. That is it really."

What most are you working on for the next level? "Pretty much everything. I just want to get better. Speed, strength, conditioning, everything, but mainly my conditioning."

Did you attend any camps this summer? "I just went to Texas' mini-camp and a few games."

Which games? "I went to LSU's and Texas A&M's spring games."

Which schools are recruiting you the hardest? "Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, LSU, and Texas. That is it really. A lot of them have offered me, but I have not talked to them in a while. Those are the ones that are recruiting me the hardest."

Who else has offered you? "Those schools and Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, Utah, and I believe that is it."

How did you become interested in Ole Miss? "By talking to Coach Orgeron. He was the first one to offer me. He told me it was a good school. I have not visited, so I do not know that for myself, but I plan on taking an official visit there this fall."

Have you set up any visits? "No, I have not set up any right now. I am still figuring out where I want to go. I know Ole Miss and Oklahoma State are going to be two of my visits because I have never been to either one of those school. I have been to LSU, Texas, and Texas A&M, so I might not visit them. I just do not know yet."

What got you interested in Oklahoma State? "Two of our former players went to Oklahoma State. They told me how it was up there. Just like Ole Miss, I have not checked it out, but I plan to. They were the second school to offer me."

What are LSU's positives? "I took a visit up there for their Spring game. I checked out a few things. I liked what I saw, but I am still open because I have not looked at the other schools. It is a good school though."

What about Texas? "They have a great staff, first of all. I love their practice facilities. They provide you with a great education, but other than that, I just talk to their coaches a lot. They tell me how it is down there. Casey Hampton (starting nose guard for the Pittsburgh Steelers) is from my school. He went there. I know him pretty well."

Are there anymore schools you are interested in? "No, not really."

When do you think you will make a final decision? "Probably after or during the season."

When will you schedule your visits? "Probably towards the end of this month. I will probably call a few coaches and get them scheduled pretty soon."

What will you be looking for while you are on your visits? "The staff, just how they treat their players. Will I fit in with their players? Education wise, I want to see if they have a good tutoring program. I will look at their team's graduation percentage and see how they practice. That is it really."
