Tim Buckley leads Madison Central to a huge win

Tim Buckley (QB, Madison Central, MS) - In the classic matchup during week one for the Magnolia State, #7 ranked Madison Central defeated #3 ranked Meridian 14-7.This game was not only about two of Mississippi's best teams, it also pitted five of the state's top prospects.

Reggie Hicks (RB) led Madison Central in rushing with 133 yards and 1 TD, while Hicks' sidekick , Tim Buckley (QB), directed the Jaguars' offense and rushed for over 100 yards.

Meridian was led by Preseason All-American candidate, Cordera Eason (RB). He rushed the ball 12 times for 53 yards and 1 TD. Eason's running mate, Derrick Davis (RB), had a preseason leg injury and did not participate in the game. It is still undetermined if Davis is going to return this season. On the defensive side of the ball for Meridian, Roshaad Byrd (LB) had 11 tackles and 1 sack.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Tim Buckley:

How did your offseason go? "It went all right."

What most did you improve on? "It would have to be my pass reads. My passing, mostly."

Which camps did you attend this summer? "I went to the Nike (Ole Miss), Ole Miss (SR), Alabama (SR), and USM (SR)."

Where did you perform the best? "Probably at the Ole Miss camp."

Any new offers? "Ole Miss. That is it so far."

Who do you think will be the next school to offer you? "Probably Alabama."

Are you being recruited as a QB or as an Athlete? "I would like to play QB, but it is still undetermined what is going to happen."

Is it critical for you that you play QB on the next level? "I do not know yet. I want to be given a shot, I do know that."

Which colleges have been recruiting you consistently throughout the recruiting process? "I have been receiving letters from Ole Miss and Alabama. MSU just started sending me some (letters) and Memphis just popped up. That is about it."

Which colleges have you called during the dead period? "I have not called anybody for now. I have not had any contact."

Who wants you the most? "Ole Miss because they send me the most mail."

Which coaches have you developed a tight bond with? "Really, no one, because I believe I talked to all of them about equally."

Who do you talk to? "Well, I have had a chance to talk to Coach Hughes (Ole Miss) and Coach Orgeron (Ole Miss) once or twice. I think that is about it."

If signing day were tomorrow; what would your pecking order look like? "Well, Ole Miss and then Alabama and USM is OK."

Tim carries a 2.8 GPA.
