Recruiting update with Mike McCoy

Mike McCoy (WR, Jackson, MS) - One of the best kept secrets in Mississippi has had an up and down senior campaign. Mike was off to a big start when he opened the season with 4 catches for 112 yards and a touchdown in the opening game. But then in the next game, McCoy had an achilles tendon injury which forced him to sit out the next two games.

But this has not stopped the colleges from taking notice.

"I have been offered by Auburn, Alabama, USM, Arkansas State, and Ole Miss," commented Mike McCoy.

Which colleges are calling Michael weekly?

"MSU, USM, Auburn, Iowa State, and Alabama have all been staying in contact with me."

Which school(s) are showing McCoy the most attention?

"USM, Auburn, and Alabama. I can always count on them three to call me at least once a week, and I get something in the mail from each of them almost every day."

Has McCoy started to set up his official visits?

"No, we have talked about it, but I will probably take them after my season is over. I know I will take one to Auburn, Alabama, and USM. I might take one to Iowa State. I am not sure on my last one."

Where does this leave the Mississippi State and Ole Miss programs? "They did not start looking at me until their camps. I guess I stood out, but Auburn, Alabama, and USM were with me from the start."

When it comes decision time; what will Michael be looking for?

"My mom makes sure all of the schools have good academic programs. I also am looking to come in as a freshman and play."

Which colleges are telling McCoy that he has a chance to play as a freshman?

"A lot of them are losing seniors at wide receiver. Auburn is losing some. Alabama could use some help there. Iowa State needs some more talent. USM loses both of their starting receivers. I have a good opportunity. I just have to step my game up."

McCoy has a 3.1 GPA and takes the ACT test in October.
