Recruiting update with Terry Grant

Terry Grant (RB, Lumberton, MS) - It is hard to top off a season where you rush for over 2,600 yards and 31 touchdowns while leading your team to a State Championship (2A). Grant does not know if he will be able to repeat these accomplishments, but so far, so good.

All Terry did was rush for 175 yards on 17 carries and 2 TD's in Lumberton's opening season win over Tylertown. In game two, Grant led his team to a victory over Franklin County. He had 76 yards of offense and 3 tackles on defense. He picked it up against North Forrest in game three. Terry had 134 rushing yards and 2 Td's on 16 carries . He also returned a punt for a 40 yard TD which sealed the win. Last Friday night against Richton, Terry had 184 yards and 3 Td's with only 6 carries. He also returned another punt for a TD when he raced 66 yards down the right hash mark.

What does Terry Grant attribute to his early season success?

"I am not selfish. The only thing I care about is for our team to play as a team," commented Terry.

What most has Terry improved on this season?

"I would have to say my blocking."

And what are some of the things that Grant would like to improve on?

"I would like to improve on my all-around game. My pass blocking, staying focused, and just keep working hard in practices."

Which colleges are keeping in phone contact with Terry this month?

"Florida State, Southern Mississippi, Mississippi State, and Alabama are the ones who have been calling me so far."

Has each one of these schools offered?

"Yes sir, they have all offered me. Memphis, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Clemson, and Auburn have offered me too."

When will Terry start to set up his official visits?

"I will probably set them up after my season is over."

Which schools are under consideration for an official visit?

"That is hard to say right now. If I had to take them today, it would probably be with FSU, Alabama, Auburn, and probably USM. That is about it."

Where do the other two state schools (MSU and Ole Miss) stand in the equation?

"Ole Miss has not contacted me this month. They have probably spoken to one of my coaches, but they have not called me yet. I have never really just sat down with one of their coaches and discussed the position I would play. One of my coaches keeps up with the running backs that everybody is recruiting. They are recruiting like 7 other big time RB's, so. MSU, I have not sat down with their coaches either. I would want to know where I would fit in with them too. I can not really say about either one of those schools until I know more."

What are USM's positives?

"Right here is where I was brought up. My fans could see me play every weekend if I stayed here."

What attracts Terry to FSU?

"My mother lives in Fort Walton (FL). FSU is just down the road. I have been away from my mother for so long. I would love to get near her again."

What about Alabama?

"I went to their game on Saturday. They have a good atmosphere and awesome coaches. My brother stays in Alabama too."

Any future college games on tap?

"My and my coach are suppose to go to a game at FSU and a game at Florida. I know for a fact we are going to a FSU and Florida game."

Terry carries a 92 GPA and a 16 on the ACT.
