Reggie Hicks talks about unofficial to OM

Reggie Hicks (RB, Madison, MS) - Reggie turned Ole Miss' head at their football camp when he displayed soft hands, the ability to explode through the tackles, and tailback open field skills. He was basically the complete package. They have been working overtime ever since to try and lure the big bruising back from Madison Central to join their backfield. The hard work looks to be paying off as Hicks took an unofficial visit to Ole Miss for the Alabama game.

We called to see how his visit went.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Reggie Hicks:

How is your season going? "It is going good. We are 4-3, but we are really starting to click."

What are your stats for the season? "I have 755 yards and 4 TD's."

What most have you improved on this season? "My blocking and running in the open field. I have gotten a lot faster this year."

Which colleges are keeping in weekly contact with you? "Missouri, Ole Miss, and Alabama."

When did Missouri come into the picture? "Around the end of the summer."

Have they offered? "Not yet."

Which college is coming after you the hardest? "I would say Ole Miss."

Have you attended any college games? "I have been to Alabama/USM, Alabama/Florida, and Alabama/Ole Miss."

What did you think of the Alabama/Ole Miss game? "It was real tight. Ole Miss just kept shooting themselves in the foot. They beat them pretty much everywhere but on the scoreboard. But give Alabama credit, they came up with a great down there at the end of the game. It was just a gutsy effort by both teams. That is one of the reasons I like those two so much. I like how hard they play."

Did anyone accompany you on your trip to Ole Miss? "My dad came with me this past weekend, and I took one of my friends with me to Alabama."

Did you get to talk with the Ole Miss coaches? "Yes sir, they were just really trying to get me up there. They said they were just a couple of players from winning that game. They thought I would be the one to get them over the hump."

Put on your coaching cap; talk about Ole Miss' team. "They just really need a running back. They are trying to put the pieces together. This is the first year that staff has been together, so it is going to take some time. Their defense is really good and their offense needs help. I guess that is the best way for me to put it."

Is that attractive for you seeing that Ole Miss really needs a running back? "Yea, big time. I am just wondering what type of (recruiting) class they are going to bring in."

What are you looking for when looking at Ole Miss' recruiting class; how many backs they are going to bring in or how many good players they are going to sign in general? "Really, both. I am going to see how many RB's they want. . But I also want to see if they can pull in the top players out of Mississippi. If they can keep them all, that would be real attractive."

OK, give us your analysis on Alabama. "They are really trying to find their next playmaker since Provo went down. They are just trying to get to where they were in the early '90's. They have been down for a while, but they look like they are on the rise again. They are fun to watch."

Have you had a chance to set up your official visits? "I have not set up the dates because I do not know how far we are going to go in the playoffs. But, I will visit Ole Miss, Alabama, and Missouri for sure."

What attracts you to Missouri? "Their running backs catch the ball out of the backfield a lot. They just do everything. I just like how they use their running backs."

Reggie carries a 3.7 GPA and a 21 on the ACT.
