Tim Buckley nearing a decision?

Tim Buckley (QB, Madison Central, MS) - Madison Central went through an adjustment period after Coach Justice left their program. A player that has helped the Jaguars back to prominence is their signal caller, Tim Buckley. Tim has directed Madison Central to the most anticipated match up of the 1st round of the playoffs this Friday when the Jaguars take on Starkville.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Tim Buckley:

Talk about your senior season. "Well, at the beginning of the season everybody was kind of down on us because of our losses to Warren Central and Brandon. Everybody had their heads down. The fans were going against us, trying to put us down. We wanted to prove them wrong, so we went back to the basics, and started playing Madison Central ball."

Talk about your personal season. "My season, to be honest, I am not really pleased. I am pleased at how everything turned out, but I am not happy with my stats. But as long as I lead my team to victories, that is all that matters. But, my stats were a lot better last year."

What were your stats as a junior? "I had about 16 TD's and 1,500 yards passing. I did not run as much last year as I have this year. There have been a lot of open yardage for the run this year. I have picked it up rushing this year. I am more of a dual threat."

What are your stats for the year? "I am right at 830 passing yards and 5 TD's. I only average 9 passes a game. Thirteen times is the most I have passed it in a game this season. My interceptions, I only have 3 for the year. That is spread out over 11 games, so that is pretty good. I am not sure what my rushing yards are, but when I take off, I am averaging like 7 or 8 yards a carry."

What part of your game has improved the most this season? "Well, last year we sprinted out a lot. My ability to throw on the run really."

Which colleges are keeping in weekly contact with you? "Well, Ole Miss of course. USM does a little and that is about it. The others are just on and off. Ole Miss keeps in touch with me the most, and USM would be after them. I have been receiving some calls from Alabama too."

Have you set up your visits? "I am going to go to Ole Miss on the first weekend of January (7th). That is about it right now. I was going to go to Ole Miss on December 3rd, but we are probably still going to be in the playoffs, so we changed it to January just to be safe."

Do you have a leader yet? "Not really, although Ole Miss has offered me. You can say Ole Miss because they offered me. You can not turn that away, but I am still undecided. If everything were to stop right now, I would go to Ole Miss. It is kind of looking like Ole Miss is where I am going to go, but I am still not 100% sure of that."

Would you and Reggie Hicks like to go together? "I just got off the phone with Reggie. I am not sure, to be honest. I tried to get Reggie to come with me to Ole Miss last weekend, but he had some family matters he had to take care of. Reggie is going up there this weekend to see them play LSU. We will probably talk about where we both want to go pretty soon, but I do not bug him about it, and he does not bug me either. We just kind of keep it to ourselves."

Did anyone come with you on your trip to the Ole Miss/Arkansas game? "It was just me. My parents did not come. I came with a friend. Everything was cool. It is a pretty good environment."

Did you get a chance to meet with the Ole Miss coaches? "Well, I talked to Coach Hughes before the game. He told me to come down to the locker room when the game was over, but I had to get my mom's car back, so I had to go back home when the game was over."

Are you going to go to the Ole Miss/LSU game? "I am probably going to stay at home this weekend. I am going to talk to Reggie, and if he is not going with his family, I might ride up there with him. But as of right now, I do not have any plans"

Tim carries a 3.6 GPA and an 18 on the ACT.
