The following information was revealed during our interview with Jason Hawkins:
you make it in for your official visit? "I went to Ole Miss this weekend."
did you like Ole Miss? "It was good, I liked Ole Miss a lot for many reasons."
anyone accompany you? "I visited by myself."
Who was your host?
"Jason Cook was my host. Jason was great. He's a real nice guy who explained
I had a great opportunity at Ole Miss. Oxford is a small town, but Jason showed
me there as a lot to do. We just hung out with the other Ole Miss tight ends and
had fun. We went out to eat a couple of times, played video games, walked around
the Square and spent time with the other recruits. It was all good."
did you learn about Ole Miss during your trip? "The business program is real
good. The academic aspect is very good, from what I could tell."
stood out the most about Ole Miss during your trip? "Ole Miss is different
from what I expected, but in a good way. It's hard to explain, but I felt very
comfortable at Ole Miss. Not that I thought I wouldn't, but it was more like home
than I expected."
How did your meeting with Coach Orgeron go? "Coach
O is a cool guy. He's very animated and I like that. I like being around people
who are always excited about what they are doing."
What did you two
discuss? "We talked about my academics and where I stood in order to graduate
in December. I'm on track, but I've got work to do and have to get on it in a
hurry. He talked to me about the excellent opportunity I had to play a lot immediately.
That excites any football player. Coach O knew before I came here that I was not
going to commit yet because I have other visits and he didn't try to pressure
me. I appreciate that. That is a plus for Ole Miss."
Where does Ole
Miss now stand in your pecking order? "I will visit UCF and Marshall next.
I'm still talking to Utah, Kansas, New Mexico State and a couple of others, but
I don't think I'm going to have time to visit them all so I am going to be making
some hard decisions in a couple of weeks. Right now, Ole Miss is way up the ladder,
but I really don't have a solid leader. Ole Miss was high on my list before the
visit and still is, maybe even a little higher because of my visit."
do you go next? "UCF is next weekend and then Marshall. From there, I don't
Jason is a December prospect.
