1st Team All-American chooses Ole Miss

Corey Actis (OL, Bakersfield CC, CA) - The Ole Miss Rebels received their 2nd JC Gridwire All-American commitment when 1st Team selection, Corey Actis, committed to the University of Mississippi this morning.


The Rebels are expecting to sign 4 prospects on Wednesday, which is the first day of the early signing period. The other three are TE Jason Hawkins, QB Bruce Hall, and DL Korey Raymond. Marcus Green will wait until February to sign but will begin school in January.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Corey Actis:

Are you any closer to a decision? "Yea, I committed this morning to Ole Miss."

Which coach did you commit to? "To Coach Neilson at first, and then I called Coach Orgeron and told him."

Why did you pick Ole Miss? "I think the coaches were the main thing. They kept on me the whole way through the recruiting process. The facilities were the nicest too. I just see myself getting better there than anywhere else."

Who came in second? "Syracuse."

Are you finished with your official visits? "Yes sir. This is it. This is final. I will sign with Ole Miss on Wednesday."

Which colleges gave you written scholarship offers? "Syracuse, Ole Miss, Louisville, North Carolina State, Fresno State, Wyoming, Kansas, and Kansas State."

Have any of the post season awards come out yet? "I only know of two. I made 1st Team All-American by the JC Gridwire and 1st Team All-State. That is what my coach told me."
