Derrick Odom, the nationally recruited 6-2 210-pound LB from Jackson Callaway, committed to LSU December 23rd, but some of his quotes to Scout.com leads one to believe the process is not completely over.
We caught up to Derrick at one of two jobs he holds down - he works construction and has a part time gig at Old Navy in Jackson.
"Yes, I committed to LSU. It was a well-rounded place and I liked it there," he said in a brief phone conversation. "But I am still researching three other schools - Ole Miss, Alabama and Southern Mississippi.
"I don't think I will take any more visits, but this is a huge decision and I am keeping myself open to other possibilities. I am solid, to a certain degree, but I owe it to myself to keep listening to other schools too."
Odom racked up 155 tackles as a senior at Callaway and has launched himself into the recruiting spotlight as one of the top players in Mississippi and the South, if not the nation.
The battle for his services seems to have some wiggle room, based on his recent quotes.
"I know I'd like to play at LSU, but I want to make sure that somewhere else wouldn't be better for me," he said, in closing.
Odom commits to LSU. . . for now
