CORAL GABLES, Florida (Ticker) -- Armintie Price scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as No. 25 Ole Miss coasted to a 72-52 victory over Maine in the first round of the Hurricane Holiday Classic.
The Lady Rebels (10-2) used a dominant defensive performance in the opening half to advance to Thursday's championship game against Miami, which beat North Carolina A&T.
The Black Bears (2-6) shot just 16 percent (4-of-25) from the floor in the opening 20 minutes as Ole Miss raced to a 42-20 halftime lead.
Price was 9-of-14 from the field and had five of the Lady Rebels' 17 steals. Ashley Johnson chipped in 10 points and three steals as Ole Miss forced 22 turnovers to rebound from a loss at Louisiana Tech on December 20.
Abby Schrader paced Maine with 12 points and 12 boards and Ashley Underwood added 11 points on 3-of-15 shooting. Leading scorer Bracey Barker was limited to six points and had four turnovers in 31 minutes in the Black Bears' sixth straight loss.
Quotes from Ole Miss Coach Carol Ross:
"All wins are good so we're happy. I loved how we played in the first half, but I wasn't so pleased with how we came out in the second half. There were some good things out there for us tonight. Our two freshmen (Shawn Goff and Brandi Tipton) got some valuable playing time and played well. Armintie Price and Ashley Johnson, who we depend on, did well again for us."
