Markeith Summers keeping options open

Markeith Summers (WR, Olive Branch, MS) - Olive Branch Wide Receiver Markeith Summers will visit Alabama, Ole Miss and Florida in January. He has already visited LSU. So far, he has no leader in mind, but he did reveal an interesting tidbit or two.

Olive Branch WR Markeith Summers, a 6-1, 192-pounder and one of the hottest football prospects in the immediate area, said he is no closer to a decision on which college he will attend than he was several months ago.

In short, he's keeping his mind open until he finishes up his visits in late January.

"I went to LSU in December and liked it a lot. I enjoyed hanging out with the players, the environment down there was good and the coaches were nice, but I did not commit to them," said the younger of the Olive Branch football brother act of him and QB Anthony Summers. "I'm going to visit Alabama the weekend of January 13th and Florida on the 20th. I'm taking my official visit to Ole Miss mid-week between those two - that's my plan right now. I'm staying open until I see what all four schools have to offer."

Markeith said he's looking for the right fit.

"I'm not really concerned with early playing time. I don't care if I get a redshirt or not. It's all about where I feel most comfortable," he continued. "I will take all my visits and make my decision after that."

Summers indicated that his decision is not tied to older brother Anthony's decision, but a major factor will be where his "best friend" Allen Walker, a 6-2 210-pound LB prospect, goes.

"We have a pact to go to school somewhere together. If Anthony and I go to the same school, that is fine with me, but I'm more tied to Allen. We are best friends and would like to go to the same college," Markeith noted. "Anthony and I are close, but he's kind of doing his thing and I'm doing mine in recruiting."

Walker and Markeith, according to Summers, will visit Alabama and Florida together.

Markeith, a three-star player on's data base, and Walker, a four-star prospect, are being hotly pursued by the Rebels.
