Rebels pick up "large" commitment

Hayward Howard (DL, Eastern Arizona CC) - The Rebels helped shore up their defensive tackle position today when the '05 Michigan State signee committed to Ole Miss.

The following information was revealed during our interview with Hayward Howard:

How is your official visit going? "I just committed a few minutes ago. I am going to be an Ole Miss Rebel. It is on."

Why did you choose Ole Miss? "My momma loves it here. She loves the coaches, and I do too. Coach Orgeron reminds me of my high school coach. He is crazy, man, just crazy, just like me. I am going to go to war for that man."

What else do you like about Ole Miss? "Well, I grew up with some of the players on that team. Robert Russell and I competed against each other in high school, and I played against Coach Frank Wilson when he was at O. Perry Walker. So, you know, it is just that comfort level here. I feel like I am one of them."

What was your first impression of Ole Miss when you first arrived? "Well, to be honest, I thought it was going to be real country, but it is not like that at all. Nobody cares about your color here. It is not a racist town at all. I love it here."

Will you take anymore visits? "No, I am done."

When will you sign with Ole Miss? "I am signing on Monday, and I moving up here next weekend."

Hayward had 96 tackles in 5 games of action this season and will have 4 years to play 3 at Ole Miss.
