Kehoe says he's 'almost' a Rebel

Former Miami OL/Assistant Head Coach Art Kehoe did not confirm he would be the next offensive line coach at Ole Miss, but he did say 'we're real close.' Read about it inside.

Art Kehoe's name has been "hot" in Ole Miss circles for a couple of weeks as the next Rebel offensive line coach.

It got hotter today in Dallas at the annual coaches' convention.

In a brief phone interview with Kehoe this afternoon, Kehoe would not confirm he is "the guy" yet, but he did say "it's pretty close to being a done deal."

"I haven't been to the Ole Miss campus yet. I will come to Oxford right after the convention," said Kehoe. "It's pretty close to being a done deal, but there's a process you have to go through. I think by the end of the week, it could very easily be official."

Kehoe said he has been having daily conversations with Rebel Coach Ed Orgeron.

"He's a heckuva recruiter," he laughed. "He has been relentless in his pursuit of me. I admire that and know what kind of program he is building at Ole Miss.

"If everything checks out on campus, I'm in."

Kehoe has been in Dallas since yesterday afternoon and delivered a one-and-a-half hour speech last night. He has talked to Coach O while in Dallas, but the interview process has been ongoing for a couple of weeks.

"We have talked many times at length. He's answered every question I've had and I've answered every question he's had," Kehoe noted. "We've gone over a ton of things and both are satisfied with where we are now. It's really a matter of crossing the t's and dotting the i's, from my end."

Kehoe had no comment on Coach O's offensive coordinator search.
