"I'm coming back"

"Academically and football-wise, Ole Miss is the place for me. It's a place I love and want to finish my career and degree there," the excited Robrt Lane noted.

As to where he fits in with the football team, Robert said "wherever the coaches want me to play. "I will do whatevcer the coaches want - QB, TE, WR, FB. That's their call. When they decide, I will be the best that position I can be," he noted.

Lane, a 6' 3", 220-pounder from Monroe, La., picked up his second letter as he saw action in nine games during the 2005 season. He started at quarterback against Wyoming and at H-Back against Kentucky and Mississippi State. Lane also saw action at H-Back against Auburn, Arkansas and LSU.

He was fifth on the team in receiving with 17 catches for 213 yards and one touchdown, while his 12.5 yards per reception ranked third among receivers with 10 or more receptions. He had a career-high 116 yards receiving on four catches against Arkansas, including one for 60 yards, and was named Rebel Quarterback Club Offensive Player of the Week after catching three balls for 38 yards against Kentucky.

Redshirted as a true freshman in 2003, Lane's two-year totals at quarterback include 34 completions in 79 attempts for 321 yards and one TD. He also has 286 yards rushing on 69 carries and three touchdowns.
