O. Perry Walker (New Orleans, LA) Wide Receiver Kendrick Lewis committed to Ole Miss the day after Signing Day last year.
In the meantime, he was forced out of his home by Hurricane Katrina, played his final prep season in Gainesville (GA), recruited by several other major schools and recently moved back to New Orleans.
Through it all, he has remained true to his commitment, despite rumors and innuendo stating otherwise.
"I had a visit scheduled to South Carolina last week and cancelled it. I had one scheduled for Tennessee this week and I won't be taking it either," said Lewis tonight via cell phone en route to a hoops game he was playing in. "I am totally committed to Ole Miss."
Lewis took unofficial visits to SC and UT last fall, but said he was going to Ole Miss the whole time.
"I wanted to see some other campuses and meet some other coaches, but Ole Miss is for me," he said.
Lewis said he and Rebel Coach Frank Wilson are close and it's a bond that matters to him.
"Coach Frank was there when we had to flee from New Orleans. He's been there the whole time," Lewis stated.
Kendrick is glad to be back in New Orleans and says everything is fine with him and his family.
"We have recovered and are doing well," he stated.
Lewis said, as far as he is concerned, his recruitment is over.
"Coach Frank will come by the game tonight or I'll see him next week, but I call him all the time. Recruiting is over," he closed.
