Rebels first to offer 5 Star DE

Kenny Rowe (DE, Long Beach, CA) - The Rebels are hoping to match the success they had last year in the state of California when they landed Brent Schaeffer, Michael Herrick, Jonathan Cornell, and Jason Hawkins.

One of the key players out of California that Ole Miss is focusing on is Kenny Rowe.

Kenny was one of the standouts at the Army All-American combine last month. What makes him so special?

The following information was revealed during our interview with Kenny Rowe:

What do you do best on the football field? "Rushing the passer (laugh). I just love to get after the QB."

What do you need to work on to take your game to the next level? "Stopping the run. I just need to get more physical and stronger."

Talk about your junior season? "We went 9-3 and made it to the 3rd round of the playoffs. I had like 70 tackles and 11 sacks."

Any awards? "I was named 1st Team All-League and CIF."

What are your goals for your senior season? "To lead us to the championship and get 20 sacks and 150 tackles."

What is going on in the recruiting world? "I have been getting a lot of letters and a couple of offers. Ole Miss and Oregon sent me written scholarships."

Who offered first? "Ole Miss."

What do you know about Ole Miss? "I know they have Coach Orgeron, and he use to coach the DL at (U)SC. But other than that, I do not know much about them because I have not researched them yet. But now that they have offered me, I am going to see what they got."

Who are some of the schools that are standing out for you? "USC, California, Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida, UCLA, and Oregon."

Which colleges are recruiting you the hardest? "Notre Dame, Nebraska, Ole Miss, and Florida."

Have you had a chance to build any relationships with the coaches who are recruiting you? "I have not talked to any coaches yet because I am only a junior."

Do you plan to attend any junior days? "I do not know yet. I am going to figure that stuff out later."

What will be the factors when it comes decision time? "That is easy. It will come down to three things, academics, playing for a winning team and playing early. Those will be the biggest things."
