Geralds commits to Rebs

Baton Rouge Offensive Lineman Daverin Geralds did not sign a letter of intent on signing day 2006. Why? Simple. He wasn't sure where he wanted to go. After visiting Ole Miss this past weekend, Geralds committed to the Rebels and will sign this week as a member of the 2006 class. Read about it inside.

Big OL Daverin Geralds - all 6-3, 300 pounds of him - had a hard time deciding where he wanted to attend college.

So much so that he didn't make up his mind until today after a visit with his parents to Ole Miss this weekend.

"I just wasn't sure," said Daverin, "until I visited Ole Miss the last couple of days. Now I am."

Daverin committed to the Rebel coaches today and will sign his scholarship papers "this week, after I get back home."

Daverin, who is a three-star recruit by and has a 93 ranking in the nation among offensive linemen, said the visit sealed the deal.

"I liked everything about it," said the soon-to-be graduate of Scotlandville Magnet HS in Baton Rouge, LA. "The academic support was very important to me. I am going to major in electrical engineering and Ole Miss has a great electrical engineering school.

"I also liked the coaches and their enthusiasm for football and their organization."

Daverin was recruited by Duke, Stanford and Louisiana Tech, and has a 4.6 grade point average and a 22 on his ACT.

He is the 31st signee for the Rebels for the 2006 class.
