Stevan Ridley impressed with LSU at Jr Day

Stevan Ridley (LB/Ath, Natchez, MS) - One of Ole Miss' first commits for the '07 class attended LSU's Jr Day on Saturday.

How did the trip go?

"I am driving back right now. I have a friend who goes to school there. I stayed at his house last night. It went very well, actually. Coach Miles is very interested in me. It went good. I like it a lot. Of course, I like Ole Miss a lot too. It is a 50/50 chance. LSU is only an hour away from home so that will make it hard. We watched practice yesterday, and I liked how they run things. They told me they want the ball in my hands, so I will most likely play running back if I go there. I got to meet pretty much their whole staff. It was a lot of fun. The thing I enjoyed most though was just watching them practice," added the very personable Stevan Ridley.

Where does this leave Ole Miss?

"I am still committed to Ole Miss, but I have grown up watching LSU football. It is kind of hard to be fully committed when LSU is knocking on your door. This is the second school to show me they really want me. MSU has been calling a lot lately, but they do not show you the love like Ole Miss and LSU. If LSU offers me, it is going to be really hard to turn them down."

Does Ridley expect the Tigers to offer soon?

"I talked to my coach. He told me they could not say anything directly to me about an offer at Jr Day. Coach told me they were going to send something in the mail. We will have to see. All I know is that Coach Miles said we are going to work it out. He wants me pretty badly. Ole Miss just flat out told me I had a scholarship. I know where I stand with them. That is one of the things that I like about them. I also like how they are recruiting right now."

What specifically does Stevan like about Ole Miss' class?

"I have been reading about their class a lot on I have been keeping up with it real closely. They already have like 8 out of the top 10 players in Mississippi committed. They are going to have a bunch of playmakers around me. It is a lot different than going to a private school where you only dress like 14 players. They already have like 14 commitments that are as good as me. That would be fun to be a part of."

Stevan is also a baseball star for Trinity Episcopal.

"Yea, I love baseball too, but I know football is going to be my bread and butter. I actually had to miss the Jr Day at Ole Miss last Saturday because we had two games on that day. I am going up there for the combine though, so I decided to go ahead and play in those games. I will get a good look at Ole Miss' facilities when I go to that combine. Although, Coach Miles is trying to talk me out of going and go to the Nike combine at LSU that is being held on the same day. I am still going to the scout combine though. I want a chance to play in that Army All-American game."
