As a junior, the 6' 5", 260 pound defensive end helped Hazzlehurst to an undefeated season (14-0) and a State Championship. He collected a state best, 186 tackles, and 15 sacks for the year. Guy was named District MVP, All-State, and All-Conference for his play on the field.
Then the unexpected happened.
was on my way back home, and I tried to dodge a deer. The car flipped, and I broke
some ribs, and messed up my spinal cord. The doctor said I will be ready for next
year though," added Jazzmen Guy.
Jazzmen had been busy trying to
rehab the injuries which has prevented him from taking in some Jr Days.
was suppose to go to Ole Miss last Saturday for Jr Day, but I had to go see my
doctor. I might go see Grambling and MSU for Jr Day if I can, but I probably will
not because most of my Saturday's are spent seeing the doctor. Getting ready for
next season is my number one goal. I pretty much do everything my doctor tells
me to do."
The good news is that Jazzmen already had three scholarships
in his pocket.
"Ole Miss, MSU, and Grambling have already offered
me. Ole Miss was the first school to offer me. They offered me right after the
(State) Championship game. I think I will be getting some more pretty soon."
colleges have stood out the most so far?
"I want to go to Florida State, but if I do not go there, I want to go to MSU and Ole Miss."
does Guy like about each school?
- "They have a good school, plus, I like their football team."
Miss - "I just like their overall school. I like their campus,
gym, and how the environment is around there. I have been up there a few times
this past year, and I liked it more each time I went up there. I just feel real
comfortable up there."
MSU - The
same things as Ole Miss. I just like their overall school. Plus, they were the
only school to personally write me after my car accident to wish my well. That
meant a lot to me."
What will Jazzmen look for when he is trying to
find the right fit?
"My grades will be a big issue. I will research
each school on the internet to see what they have. Playing time is not a factor
for me nor is playing close to home. I do not care where I play."
