Cornelius Devine's Recruiting Profile
Stats are great, but what really matters is your production in helping your team win. No problem, all Devine did was help his team to the Class 4A State Championship by recording 85 tackles, 28 for losses, and 16 sacks.
What makes this 6' 4", 225 pounder's motor go?
"I use my 4.6 speed to my advantage. My strength, speed, and physical ability allows me to be a playmaker. I love to make the big play," added Cornelius Devine.
Devine is currently playing defensive tackle for West Point. Where does he project to play on the next level?
"They like me at defensive end because I am long and fast."
Devine is actually a track star for West Point. He runs the 4 by 400 and the 100 meters. What is his best time in the 100 meters?
"I do not know about my best, but I ran a 10.95 this year."
Last season was a special one for the Green Wave as the won the Class 4A State Championship.
"We had a good season. At first, we did not think we were going to go that far, but we all pulled together and played like we were suppose to. We won the big games and made the big plays. It was a lot of fun. "
What is in store this season from the '05 All-State selection?
"I am going to go both ways this year (TE&DT). I am ready to get started."
Which colleges are actively recruiting the young man?
"I get a lot of letters, but Tennessee, Duke, Illinois, Ole Miss, Vandy, and Georgia have invited me to their Jr Days and (football) camps.."
Is Devine keeping a close eye on anyone?
"I like Georgia Tech and Ole Miss."
How did Cornelius become interested in Georgia Tech?
"I went over there to visit their campus last year. I like their football program and school. I grew up watching a lot of their games."
What are Ole Miss' positives?
"We played up there for our Spring game last year. I like their facilities and football program."
Will Devine attend any Jr Days this Spring?
"We were suppose to go to Ole Miss', but we had a power lifting contest that day, so we could not make it. They are suppose to hold another one in April. We are going to go to that one."
What will Cornelius be looking for when it comes decision time?
"I want a good environment like Georgia Tech's, and I also want an engineering program like Georgia Tech's. I hope I get a chance to go there."
Cornelius will attend the scout.com combine that is being held in Oxford on April 30th.
