And why not? Taylor has all of the attributes you are looking for in a quarterback. He is big (6' 5", 230), has a strong arm (can throw a ball over 70 yards in the air) and is a patient in the pocket.
does Johnathan think about his game?
"I am pocket QB. I guess that
is the best way to describe my game. I like to pick out the holes in the defense
and go after their weaknesses. My being 6' 5" and all gives me the advantage
of seeing everything that is going on," added the very matter of fact Johnathan Taylor.
Taylor is not certain of his final stats for the '05 campaign,
but we do know this, he surpassed the 1,000 yard barrier in both passing and rushing
in game five. And no, that is not a misprint.
Are there any weaknesses
in his game?
"I need to work on my speed (runs a 4.8 forty). I still
need to work on the little things with my footwork and reading defenses."
has been starting for Cleveland East Side since his 9th grade season, but last
year brought a first.
"I was named the Delta Touchdown Player of the
Letters have started to pour in from colleges around the country.
Which colleges are showing the most interest?
"I would say Tennessee,
LSU, Illinois, Duke, and Auburn."
Are there any early leaders?
am mainly looking at LSU and an Ole Miss coach came down and looked at me recently.
Mainly those two schools."
What does he like about each school?
- "I like LSU's offense. It is like the one we run, plus, my coach went to
LSU. He said they have a good school and facilities."
Miss - "I like their offense also, and they have a great program.
They have a new staff. They are good. They came to look at me, and I like their
coaches. I have gotten to know Coach (Tony) Hughes (from Ole Miss) pretty good."
will Taylor be looking for when it comes decision time?
Is it in a good neighborhood? Are the guys on the team there to help each other
out? Is there any leadership on the team? You got to have leaders. I just want
to be a part of a big family."
Taylor will attend the scout.com combine that is being held at Ole Miss on April 30th.
