DeMarcus Fox wants to be Mississippi's best

DeMarcus Fox (WR, Calhoun City, MS) - One of the top wide-outs from the '05 season is looking to make an even bigger impact next year.

"I want to prove to everyone that I am not only the best receiver but the best player in Mississippi," stated DeMarcus Fox.

Some might think those are some large shoes to fill, but if last year was any indication, we know he means business. Fox was named 1st Team All-State, District, Region and Team MVP after collecting 32 catches for 864 yards and 12 TD's.

The Super 22 selection has many strengths.

"I just play the game. I am real quick, and I have good hands. I can run good too."

What will Fox need to work on for the next level?

"I just need to work on my footwork."

Fox has been starting since his 9th grade season and has begun to attract D1 interest from all over the deep South.

"I am getting letters from Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Ole Miss, MSU, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia Tech, USM, Duke, and Florida State."

Does any one school send more letters than the next?

"I think South Carolina does and probably Alabama. I do not know. Ole Miss writes me a lot too. Florida does too. I would say those four write me the most."

DeMarcus has an early leader.

"I like Alabama. I just like how they play, and I like Coach Shula. I have been an Alabama fame since Cornelius Wortham was there. I always said I was going to play for them since I was a little kid. That is probably what I am going to do."

The Tide has not offered yet; does that leave the door open for anyone else?

"Jackson State is my only offer right now. I also like Florida, Ole Miss, MSU, and USM."

What stands out about each school?

Florida - "I just want to go play there. I would love to play for Florida."

Ole Miss - "It is alright. I have been there a couple of times. I played on their field once too. They got a straight coach and a nice stadium and campus."

MSU - "They are OK. They are straight. I will play for them too. I like the way they play."

USM - "I want to check them out because they got an alright football team and a good coach. They connect with each other. I got my eye on them too."

What will Fox look at when it comes decision time?

"I will look at their environment, girls, coaches, and playing time. All of that."

Fox reports a 2.9 GPA and an 18 on the ACT.

DeMarcus will participate at the scout combine on April 30th.
