P.K. Keyes updates his top schools

P.K. Keyes (DT, Gulfport, MS) - P. K. had 133 tackles and 14 sacks in his first year at defensive tackle during a shortened season due to Hurricane Katrina. That is pretty scary when you think about what he could have done in a full season. This upcoming season Keyes will get his chance.

"Man, I am so excited about this season coming up. I am just ready to show everyone what I got."

While no offers have been formally extended, a couple of colleges are keeping in close contact.

"Nobody has just came out and said I have an offer yet, but I have talked to a couple of coaches, Coaches Pigot (USM) and Orgeron (OM)."

What did Coach Pigot have to say?

"Coach Pigot talked to me about the school and being close to home. We talked about their program and having a whole new defensive line with new players and all. They send a lot of players to the NFL, like Brett Farve. That is what we mostly talked about."

And Coach Orgeron?

"Me and Coach Orgeron are pretty tight. I went to his camp last summer. He is a trip. He stayed on top of me the whole time I was there. Yelling at me, just making sure I was doing my techniques right. He has coached so many great defensive linemen like Cortez Kennedy and Warren Sapp. I just think he could really help my game out. He came down to our school recently, but he could not say anything to me. I called him that night, and he told me to make sure I came back to their camp. He wants to see how I have progressed."

Which college is coming after Keyes the hardest?

"Well, Ole Miss is coming after me real hard and USM. I get a lot of letters from LSU. I have not talked to them yet though, but I would say USM and Ole Miss."

It is no surprise that the Rebs and Eagles are on top of Keyes' wish list

"I like the schools that are close to home because I want my family to see me play. USM and Ole Miss are good football programs, and I really like their coaches. LSU is pretty close. I like them too."

Are there anymore colleges on P.K.'s radar?

"Florida, FSU, and I get a couple of letters from Auburn, Tennessee, and South Carolina."

P. K. Keyes will attend the scout combine in Oxford on April 30th.
