Harrison Smith is a wanted man

Harrison Smith (S/RB, Knoxville, TN) - One of the more coveted players in the Volunteer state is located in Knoxville.

Could that give the hometown Vols a leg up on the competition?

"I would not say that, but I do know more about Tennessee than everybody else because I have been there so much," added Harrison Smith.

Smith earned 1st Team All-State, All-Region, and All-league honors as a junior after he collected 61 tackles, 11 tackles for losses, 5 int's (two returned for scores), 3 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries. But that is not where the buck stops. Oon offense, Harrison rushed for 1,312 yards and 17 touchdowns on 155 carries. He also caught 32 passes for 446 yards and 6 TD's.

If you are worried about grades, don't. Harrison carries a 3.77 GPA and a 28 on the ACT.

It is no wonder schools like Tennessee, Ole Miss, Auburn, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Clemson, and Vandy have offered the young man a scholarship.

The biggest question remains; who is at the top of Smith's want list?

"Besides the schools who have offered, I am looking at Alabama and Miami."

Which colleges have come by Smith's school to scout him?

"Just about every school who has offered me said they were coming. The head coaches who have been by are Coach Fulmer (Tennessee) and Orgeron (Ole Miss). Some assistants who have been by are Coach Mintor (Notre Dame), Woods (Alabama), Shannon (Miami), and an assistant from Virginia Tech."

College recruiters are still debating which position Smith is best suited for on the next level. What are Harrison's thoughts on this issue?

"I think I am probably better suited for safety because I like to hit."

What are Smith's strengths on the field?

"My aggressiveness and being aware of everything. My speed also helps."

Where will Harrison camp at this summer?

"I am not sure yet, but I will probably go to Tennessee and some schools like Alabama, Ole Miss, and Notre Dame. I just do not know for certain yet."
