Damian Robinson shines at Ole Miss Sr camp

Damian Robinson (LB, Greenville, MS) - One of the standouts at the Ole Miss senior camp came in with little fan fare. This unknown commodity measured in at 6' 1 1/2", 207 and ran a 4.51 forty.

The campers played a little 7 on 7 at the end of the Rebel senior camp.

Robinson was put on the "A" team which included some of the top prospects from around the Mississippi Region.

Included in this defense was Top 100 national prospect Chris Strong.

The corner slots had Darrius Davis and Johnny Brown. The safeties included Jamison Hughes and arguably Mississippi's top '08 prospect, Darrius Barksdale.

All of these players mentioned are like a who's who list for the Mississippi area, but there was this chiseled unknown at linebacker that kept catching everybody's eye.

Robinson kept making play after play. He was covering running backs in the flats and ran stride for stride with one of Mississippi's top receivers, Darrius Young, on a deep out.

What were Damian's thoughts on the 7 on 7 experience?

"It was real good, man. To get all of those caliber of players together and play as one. That was a lot of fun. I have heard a lot about these guys. I mean, Chris Strong, that guy is like the man around here. To play next to him, man, that was a lot of fun. I have also competed against Johnny Brown in track and a jamboree. I already knew what he was all about. He is top dog in the Delta. It was just a lot of fun, a lot of fun to play with all of those guys. We just got after it. It let me know that I can compete against the best. You do not get to play with those type of players all at once very often. It let me know where I stand. Now I know I belong up there with them," added Damian Robinson

And what about his experience at the Ole Miss camp?

"Oh man, it was lovely. They have a nice indoor facility. I love their facilities. I go there every year for a track invitation. It looks good up there. I also liked their staff. They keep it live out there. They make it a lot of fun. I could see myself playing with a staff like theirs."

What makes Robinson so good?

"I can read where the plays are going. . My speed is pretty good too. But mainly, my ability to read the plays allows me to get a jump on the ball. I am real aggressive too."

Is there anything that Damian needs to work on?

"I want to try and bring down my speed to a 4.4. I want to work on my reaction time too."

Damian recorded 89 tackles and 9 sacks as a junior. He was named to the All-Delta team for his play.

Which colleges are recruiting Damian the hardest?

"I would have to say Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Memphis, Texas, Florida, and Marshall."

Robinson was reluctant to name any favorites, as he states that he is truly wide open, but when asked to name seven schools he would like to see on his player page, he responded, "LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, Memphis, Texas, Florida, and Auburn."

When it comes decision time; what will be the factors?

"I just want to go where I can get a good education that has my major, which will either be in Engineering or Technology. I will look real hard at those two programs. Football will take care of itself. They all have good football programs, so it will be more of an academic thing than anything else."

Where will Robinson camp at next?

"I am going to one more camp and that is to Alabama this weekend. After that, I will probably be done."
