David Rue commits to Ole Miss

David Rue (TE, Monroe, LA) - The Rebels were looking to add a tight end or two for the '06 class, and it looks like they have met one of their needs.

"I committed to Ole Miss this morning. I am going to call Coach Orgeron later on this afternoon to let him know," added David Rue.

Why Ole Miss?

"Well, I did a lot of research on the internet, and I felt comfortable with Ole Miss. Me and Rishaw Johnson played together at St. Augustine, and we are going to room together next year. I am also pretty tight with BenJarvus Green-Ellis, and Coach Frank Wilson (Ole Miss assistant) is an alum of St. Augustine, so you know, there are just a lot of connections from my old school to Ole Miss. I always said I was going to go far away in college. Mississippi is a nice place. I am comfortable their. Their staff are good people, from Coach Orgeron to Coach Wilson to Coach Freeze. They are all good people. I feel Ole Miss is my home. I am proud to be a Rebel."

Who came in second place for the 6' 5", 230 pound tight end?

"Clemson did. Coach Burns (Clemson assistant) is also an alum of St. Augustine. I went to their camp when I was in 10th grade, and they told me then that they were going to offer me in my junior year. I was only a sophomore, so I did not think too much about it. But, they held on to their word. It is nice up there. They have a good program, but I can only go to one school. I appreciate everything they did for me though."

Will David attend anymore camps this summer?

"I am going to LSU on July 23rd. I am going to make sure I attend that camp. I know my St. Augustine boys, Chad Jones and Rishaw Johnson, are going to be there. I am ready to reunite with them and have some fun out on the field."

Now that Rishaw Johnson and David Rue have committed to Ole Miss; will they be working on Chad Jones?

"Well, I talk to Chad a lot. But right now, he has baseball on his mind. He has 41 (football) scholarships. He is still looking at Ole Miss, but I think LSU is on his mind right now. He is still open, so you know, anything can happen. But I really think baseball is going to be his sport. It will be a lot of fun for me and Rishaw and Chad to play out on the field one more time together at the LSU camp. I miss them days of when we use to line up next to another at St. Augustine. I miss them days a lot."

David marks Ole Miss' 17th public commitment.
