Alex Washington still has one at the top

Alex Washington (OL, Monroe, LA) - The Carroll High standout is excited about how fall camp has gone so far.

"It has been pretty good. I have gotten a little stronger than I was last year. It has really helped my game out a lot. I also think my teammates have done a good job in the weight room this summer. We look a lot better."

What will be Carroll's strengths this season?

"We will have a strong defense. They will be better than people expect. Friday, we play the defending state champs, Bastrop in a Jamboree. I get to go against the kid Kantravis Aubrey. He is committed to LSU. They also have Lamarcus Williams. He committed to Alabama. It will be fun going up against 2 SEC defensive linemen."

Washington picked up an offer this past month.

"ULM offered me when I went to their camp. I did pretty good. I guess good enough to get a scholarship offer (laugh)."

Which colleges are staying in touch with Alex?

"Basically the same schools but mainly Ole Miss."

Is Alex disappointed that he is not being recruited by more schools?

"I am not worried about it. I kind of got an idea of where I want to go. The school who is recruiting me the hardest is looking good for me, so recruiting is not a focus of mine anymore."

Will Alex make an early commitment?

"I will probably wait until the middle or towards the end of the season."

What is attractive about Ole Miss for Alex?

"I like their offensive line coach, Art Kehoe. The experience he had at Miami for 27 years. That is what stands out with me about Ole Miss. That in the fact that they recruit me so hard."
