Johnny Brown misses Ole Miss jamboree

Johnny Brown (RB, Charleston, MS) - Last year put Johnny on the map when he rushed for for 1, 788 yards and scored 24 TD's. He was named the Region 4(3A) Player of the Year for his on the field accomplishments.Johnny was hoping to get off to a big start during the preseason camp at the Ole Miss jamboree on Saturday, but a sprained ankle forced him to sit out.

"I sprained it last week. I had to sit out a couple of practices. I tried to practice again, but it kept hurting it worst, so I decided to sit out the jamboree," stated Johnny Brown.

Charleston took care of business Saturday against Houston, as they won the ball game 19-6. What did Brown think of his teammates performance?

"They played good, real good. I think we are really coming together. Our younger RB's were running hard and waiting on their blocks. I think this team has a chance to get back to the State Championship game and win it this time."

What are Johnny's goals for his senior season?

"I want to become more a team leader because we have a lot of young guys playing in key roles. My being a senior, I want to show them more senior leadership."

What about his personal goals?

"I am putting the team first. I do not really have any personally goals."

Although Johnny committed to Ole Miss early in the process, he continues to hear from competing colleges.

"I am still hearing from USM, MSU, Memphis, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Marshall, Louisville, and Tulsa."

Johnny has been offered by Ole Miss, Alabama, MSU, and USM. Who could be next in line?

"I think Auburn, LSU, and Memphis are pretty close."

Is Johnny still solid with his Ole Miss commitment?

"Oh yes sir. Once I made up my mind. That was it. My family told me that when I made my commitment, there would be no turning back. I already have my brother working in Oxford. I love their coaches. They are always hyped up. You never catch them on a down day. They are always excited. And plus it is closest to home. That really made it easy on me. My family does not have far to travel to see me play. I am 110% committed to Ole Miss."

Johnny recently scored an 18 on the ACT and carries a 2.9 Core GPA.
