Practice Report: Friday

While everyone in the Rebel nation is anxiously holding their breath on news about Jerrell Powe's (no word yet) plight with the NCAA Review Committee, Ole Miss Coach Ed Orgeron put the Rebels through a one-hour walk through practice today in anticipation of tomorrow's closed scrimmage. Read about it inside.

Ole Miss Coach Ed Orgeron put the Rebels through a one-hour walk through practice today in anticipation of tomorrow's last scrimmage before the September 3 opener against Memphis.

"We will have a mock game at 3:30 tomorrow," Orgeron noted. "We will put the service team on one sideline and the guys who will be playing against Memphis on the home side.

"We will go through everything."

O said the coaches will be in the press box and on the sidelines just like a game and will be on the headphones.

On the offensive side of the ball, TE Coach Hugh Freeze, RB Coach Frank Wilson and OL Coach Art Kehoe will be on the sidelines and OC Dan Werner, GA Grant Heard and WR Coach Matt Lubick will be in the press box.

"On defense, I'll be on the field with DB Coach Chris Rippon, LB Coach David Saunders and DL Coach Ryan Nielsen. DB Coach Tony Hughes and GA Dave Corrao will be in the press box," Orgeron stated.

Orgeron said the Rebels had a good practice today.

"The guys were very attentive and were into it today. I think they are excited about tomorrow. We need them sharp tomorrow and I think they will be," Coach O closed before heading into a team meeting. "We can take the film we get from tomorrow and correct a lot of things off it next week."

At 5:30 p.m. central time, we asked Coach Orgeron is he had anything on DT Jerrell Powe, whose eligibility case is before the Review Committee of the NCAA.

"Not a word yet," he said, anxiously.
