Robert Elliott copes with frustrating times

Robert Elliott (RB, Okolona, MS) - Scout.com's #7 nationally rated running back came on to the scene last season when he rushed for 1,818 yards and scored 20 touchdowns.

Robert was expecting big things for his senior year, but things have not quite gone as planned.

"We are 0-2. Our offensive line is young. We graduated everybody last year. I am bigger than a couple of them, so we are a little undersized, but they are trying their best, giving it their all. I just have to make more plays for us this season. We played Shannon last night. I had 7 rushes for 65 yards. We lost 28-8," added the always humble Robert Elliott.

How did Shannon's Darrius Young perform in the game?

"He scored 3 TD's. Darrius did real good. They are a 4A school, and we are a 2A school. We were down 14-8 at half-time, so we are improving."

Elliott fared a little better in the season opener.

"I had 11 rushes for 121 yards against Houston, but we got beat down pretty good. We lost 38-6."

What will Robert and the rest of his teammates have to do to turn the season around?

"Just just have to get back to practice and work hard. We have a tough team to play Friday against Nettleton, but I think our guys are going to work hard this week and improve as a team. I know I still have a lot of room for improvement too."

Robert Elliott had a few callers on September 1st, the first day the colleges were allowed to place calls to the prospects.

"I did not talk to anyone, but a lot of them called. Alabama, MSU, Ole Miss, USM. They all called."

Robert committed to the Rebels on February 3rd and that commitment still stands firm.

"I get a lot of people asking me if I am solid with Ole Miss, but nothing has changed, I am still solid with my commitment. I just like how much they wanted me to come over there and how they treat their players. Their coaching staff really sold me."

Elliott stated in the Spring that he had scheduled official visits with FSU and MSU, in addition to Ole Miss, but the dates are no longer set.

"I have not set up my visits yet, but I will probably still take all five of my visits."

Many high school players got a chance to take in some college practices during preseason camps, but Robert was not one of them.

"I was too busy getting ready for our season. I wanted to be a team leader over here, so I needed to be going over everything with my guys."

Will Elliott have the chance to take in any college games?

"I have not attended any games yet, but I am going to Oxford on Sunday. I can not wait to see everybody over there. I know their coaches and players are fired up. It should be a great game."

Robert has a 2.9 Core GPA.
