Rebs still lead for Johnathan Frink

Johnathan Frink (LB, Oxford, MS) - Life has been good for the Oxford product this season.

"We are doing good so far," commented Johnathan Frink. "We are 5-0."

Could this year's team be better than last year's first undefeated in the regular season squad?

"I think we are a lot faster, defensive wise. On offense, I think we are a lot faster because we have some great running backs."

Oxford ran their record to 5-0 last Friday after they defeated Amory.

"It was an intense game. Amory's QB and RB could not play, so we won 24-0. Our defense took up the slack until the offense kicked in."

How did the Charger's defensive leader play?

"I had my best game, statistically. I had 16 tackles and 1 sack."

Frink now has 60 tackles and 4 sacks on the young season; how would he rate his play?

"I think I am playing a lot better than last year. I am playing between the blocks and rushing the QB a lot more."

And what would Johnathan like to accomplish for the remainder of the season?

"Our defense is one of the top defenses in the state, if not the top. We want a state championship. We made it to the North Finals last year but lost to West Point. We want to win it all this year. That is our only goal."

How is recruiting coming along for Mississippi's most wanted uncommitted prospect?

"It is still basically the same schools. Michigan has been asking about me to my coaches and sending me a lot of text messages, but it is pretty much the same schools."

Which colleges are keeping in phone contact with Frink?

"So far, that would be Kentucky, Indiana, Ole Miss of course, MSU, Memphis, South Carolina, and Southern Mississippi."

Weekly phone contact?

"I would say Ole Miss, Memphis, South Carolina, and USM."

Which college is showing Johnathan the most interest?

"That is kind of hard to say. Of course Ole Miss right now because they are just right around the corner, but it seems like Ole Miss is (showing the most interest)."

The Rebels have led for Johnathan for quite some time and things have not changed.

"They are still my top school. I like how their defense plays. Right now, they are a young team, but you can tell they are going to be really good when I get there."

Frink has attended the Rebels two home games and came away with these observations.

"Right now, if I sign with Ole Miss, I will get a lot of playing time because of my work ethic. I just feel like I fit in well with their assistants and they need some good young LB's. It is a real good fit for me."

While Ole Miss leads for Johnathan's services; there is a team hot on their heels.

"I think Memphis is getting up there (with Ole Miss). I have been watching them play and (Mathew) Malouf is there, and I would like to play with him again. Coach Helton has been calling a lot and we have been talking. I really like their staff too."

Has Frink set up any official visits?

"I have been talking to Coach (Hugh) Freeze about going to Ole Miss in December (9-12). I have not set up anymore visits, but I will as soon as I start to narrow it down to who I do and do not want to visit. I am just trying to concentrate on my season for now."

Johnathan carries a 2.9 Core GPA / 24 ACT
