Jerry Duncan takes in Ole Miss game

Jerry Duncan (WR, Petal, MS) - The 6' 1", 185 pounder caught 60 passes for 1,099 yards and 16 touchdown passes as a junior. He looks to be on track to break those numbers this season, even with a shoulder injury that forced him to sit out almost two complete games.

"I had 11 catches for 181 yards and 3 TD's against N' East Jones Friday. Against South Jones last Friday, I did not really play a lot. I had a shoulder injury in our opening game in the opening series. We could win without me, so I sat out after the first drive. I had three or four catches in that drive, but that was it. In our third game against East Central, I had 131 yards and 3 TD's, and I also had a pick at cornerback. Against Biloxi, I had 7 catches for 96 yards and 2 TD's. And against Columbia, like I said, I had to miss the entire game because of the injury I sustained in the opening series. I am OK now though," added Jerry Duncan.

The Panthers have gotten off to a 5-0 start due to several factors.

"It feels good. I feel we are having a better year as far as executing our offense and our defense has stepped up a lot."

And how would Jerry grade his personal play?

"I feel like I am making plays, helping our offense as far as scoring TD's. I am doing big things when big things need to be done. I feel like my biggest improvement is my awareness. I caught a lot of balls last year, but I was not as consistent as I am this year. I could be doing better, so there is always room for improvement."

Jerry has not received any phone calls this month but several colleges are still keeping in touch by way of mail.

"I still get letters from Louisville, USM, Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, and LSU. I went to Ole Miss's game on Saturday when they played Wake Forest. Two weeks ago I went to the USM/N.C. State game."

How did his Ole Miss trip go?

"I liked it. They have a nice campus and stadium. I had to leave at half because it was raining so hard, but before the game, we tailgated in the Grove. That was a great experience."

Did Duncan get a chance to talk with the coaches?

"No sir, I did not get a chance to speak with them. Like I said, it was raining so hard that my family was ready to get out there at half."

What did Jerry observe while watching the game?

"The main things I was looking at where their WR's and QB's. I feel like I could help that program out a lot. I feel I could fit right in. The QB was pretty good. I did not have any bad thoughts about him."

Jerry has not scheduled anymore unofficial visits but there are a few schools he would like to check out.

"I want to go back up to Ole Miss for another game when the weather is better. I also want to go over to Auburn and see them play. I want to see Alabama, FSU, and LSU play too. I am interested in all of those schools. I can always go see USM play."

Jerry will retake the ACT test this month with hopes of making a qualifying score.
