Recruiting: DE Quinton Groves

Defensive ends with speed are in high demand as defensive coordinators attempt to disrupt the passing game with speed off the edge. Perhaps no defensive end in Mississippi can bring the heat like Quinton Groves from Greenville. In April, Groves measured 6-foot-3.5 and weighed 227 pounds while clocking a 4.50 in the 40-yard dash. He further demonstrated his athleticism with a vertical jump of 34.7" and the Rebels are squarely in the hunt to land his signature on a national letter of intent.

"Florida, Louisiana State, Ole Miss, Georgia, Auburn, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Kentucky, and Arkansas have all offered me," said Groves. "I like all of them and I will probably reach my decision by the end of the season."

Groves decision could be impacted by some unofficial visits he has planned. The right atmosphere at several select stadiums could be the difference.

"I plan to take unofficial visits to Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Florida, Alabama, and Georgia," said Groves. "I camped at Georgia and it was a long trip but I want to see what it's like on game day."

Football is not the only sport that Groves competes in as basketball and track are also sports he excels at. In fact, Groves has long jumped 21' 7" and he has a high game of 21 points in basketball. Nevertheless, football is what fires him up the most.

"I like the hitting in football," said Groves. "Especially, when the crowd gets into it and our band starts playing."

Groves made 89 tackles and 15 sacks last season. He maintains a 2.5 GPA and scored a 16 on his first attempt at the ACT. Greenville opens their season at home against Eastside High School from Cleveland, Mississippi.
