Arkansas RBI record holder commits to Rebels

Logan Williams (RHP/Inf, Demascus, AR) - Logan broke the Arkansas state record for RBI's in a season with 64 as a freshman in 2004. He proceeded to break it again in 2005 when he had 73 RBI's.

As just a freshman, Logan hit .505 with 11 HR's and 64 RBI's. Not bad for your first go around. Williams followed that up with a .580 batting average with 73 RBI's (which once again broke the state season record), 27 stolen bases , and 62 runs scored.

Logan was invited to the prostigues Perfect Game Underclass Showcase tournament in Fort Myers, Florida in December 2005.

The perfect games report read:

PG Report: Very strong, mature build. Plus bat speed. Wide stance with balance and leverage at contact. Big time power potential. Ball explodes off his bat. National level hitting prospect. Smooth and easy defensive actions. Good arm strength with a quick release. Probable 3B future. Also pitched and threw 88 mph with life. Excellent student. Top level follow.

Williams carried a big reputation going into his junior season. All he had accomplished was breaking the Arkansas RBI record in back to back seasons.

No problem, Logan stepped it up another notch and had his best batting average yet with a .602 clip and added 8 HR's and 59 RBI's.

Williams not only carries a big stick, he also posseses a big time arm. Last season, the South Bee ace had a 11-0 record, with a 0.42 ERA, and 111 strikeouts in 56 innings.

The 6' 0", 190 pounder tops out at 92 MPH and averages in the 88 - 90 range.

"I try to change speeds a lot," added Logan Williams. "I base everything with my fastball. That is my main pitch, but I like to throw everything to keep them off balance. I throw a fastball, slider, and change-up. My change-up is pretty good."

This summer Logan was once again invited to the Perfect Games in Baun Stadium.

The perfect games reported:

PG REPORT: Compact and strong. Offense - slightly closed stance, opens hips early, good bat speed, strong, high hands to start, barrel ok to ball, has some balance, gap hitter, pull approach. Defense - played 2B very well, good range and jumps, good angles, strong arm, can throw from different slots, good hands. Pitching - 3/4 slot, short arm action, athletic delivery, FB has good life, pitched up with FB, showed CB and SL, good feel of CU, changed speeds well.

The three time All-State selection decided to end his recruitment early when he committed to the Ole Miss Rebels.

"I committed Friday evening. I had always kind of wanted to go there. When I finally saw the campus; it was just unbeliavable. That is where I want to be. I really think we will have a good shot at getting to Omaha each and every year I am there. I also get along with their players and coaches. It is not far from home, and I just fit in really well. What more could I ask for?"

Logan also drew interest from Arkansas, Arkansas State, Kansas, MSU, Tennessee, Missouri State, and Arkansas State.

He carries a 3.61 GPA / 23 ACT.

The Rebels now have 8 public commitments.
