TE reschedules Ole Miss visit

Mat Williams (TE, Fort Myers, FL) - One of the top tight ends in the Sunshine state has scheduled three official visits.

"I am going to Ole Miss (12/1). I originally was going this weekend, but I am taking the ACT test instead. I am going to South Carolina (12/8) and South Florida (1/6)."

Who else is still under consideration to receive a visit?

"Louisville. I took a couple of unofficial visits there. I am going to schedule an official, I just do not know when. Michigan State, Vandy, and Wake Forest also want me to visit."

Which colleges have given this talented youngster a scholarship offer?

"South Florida, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Wake Forest, Louisville, Pittsburgh, and Duke."

What stands out about Ole Miss?

"They have a pretty good team this year. Coach Kehoe is recruiting me. He is a real good coach. I have known about him for a while now. I just want to see what it is all about. I have been watching them on t.v. a lot this year. I think they have a real bright future."

And South Carolina?

"Coach Spurrier is a real good coach and they have a good program. I went on an unofficial visit there last summer with the rest of my team. We toured their facilities, and Coach Spurrier called me up last week and told me he was coming to my game. He came to our last game and offered me a scholarship the next day. I want to go back up there and check it out again."

What about South Florida?

"It is close to home, and they play in the Big East, which is a good conference. They are only an hour away from home, and they are an up and coming program."

What are Louisville's positives?

"I have been up there two times and liked it a lot. They are one of the top programs in the country. They get the ball to their tight ends a lot. They also have really good academics."

Who is coming after Mat the hardest?

"I would say either South Carolina or probably Vandy. Well, make that South Carolina, Louisville, and Ole Miss. Those three."

How is Williams' senior campaign coming along?

"It is going alright, but not as good as we had hoped. We are 5-4 right now. We lost by 2 points Friday for the District championship, so we are still feeling the hurt from that game. We are in the playoffs, so that is the big thing. We are pretty much a run team, but I have 12 catches for 186 yards and 3 TD's."
