Practice Report: Thursday

The Ole Miss football team concluded full-speed practice for the week in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. They were greeted with perfect football weather - brisk and sunny. What did Coach O think of the week's preparations for Northwestern State? Read about it inside.

"We had a good week, a real good week," said Rebel Coach Ed Orgeron after Thursday's practice concluded the full-speed preparations for the week for Saturday's contest with Northwestern State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Coach O indicated TB Mico McSwain is moving around some, specifically trying some wide receiver on for size.

"Mico made some improvement at wide receiver. We were able to get him the ball a little bit more," O noted. "Hopefully he'll do well there. We are getting him the ball where we can."

He also stated Jamarca Sanford has gained some comfort at Sam Linebacker this week in practice and that DE/DT Peria Jerry practiced today.

"Jamarca seems more comfortable in his role as a linebacker and Peria worked out today. The guys have been in good spirits all week," said Orgeron. "It's good to see Peria out there, but he still has a way to go in the healing process. It's going to be the offseason, and lots of rest, before he's 100% healthy."

Earlier in the week, O said freshman QB Cliff Davis took a few snaps with the first team and did a nice job.

"Cliff has a strong arm and reminds me a lot of Bobby Hebert, who I played with. He's tough, competitive and has a little style about him. He's strong and can move well," said O.

The Rebs will have their normal Friday walk-through tomorrow afternoon and then will head to Tupelo to spend the night.

The Walk of Champions will be at 11:05 a.m. Saturday morning.

There will be no practice report tomorrow.
