Chris Warren inks with Rebs

Scout.com's number 20 point guard in the country - Christopher Warren of Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, FL, has opted to play his college basketball at Ole Miss. Warren made his announcement this afternoon in a press conference at his high school.

The Ole Miss Rebel Men's Basketball staff missed out on Scout.com's number 24-rated point guard when Keegan Bell chose Vanderbilt over the Rebels and LSU last month.

So what did Andy Kennedy and company do?

They went after a "better" point guard, Scout's 20th-ranked PG, Christopher Warren of Dr. Phillips HS in Orlando, FL.

Their hard work and efforts paid off when Warren announced today in a press conference at his high school that he has picked Ole Miss over Virginia Commonwealth and Old Dominion.

Christopher went straight to practice after his press conference, but we were able to get in touch with his Mother, Sarah, after the announcement.

"Ole Miss really wasn't that hard of a decision for Christopher. I think Ole Miss was in his heart ever since he visited there recently," said Mr. Warren. "He is very happy with his choice.

"His Father (Charles) and I think this is a good opportunity for Christopher. I'm sorry we didn't get to make the trip with him when he went on his visit, but we hear a lot of good things about Ole Miss and the Oxford community."

After Chris' visit to Ole Miss, he said he felt he fit in at UM in a variety of ways.

"The people there were real cool. I had a lot of fun with the current players," he said. "I also like the style of play Coach Kennedy is bringing in there. They want to push the ball up the court and that's what I do best. I'm an up-tempo player.

"I feel I can make an impact at Ole Miss because they have a need for another point guard."

The lure of the SEC also swayed Warren.

"The SEC is the best basketball conference in the nation. I want to be a part of that," he stated.

Warren averaged 20 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals last year for Dr. Phillips.

He is rated as a three-star prospect by Scout.com.
